• Shop The Competition - There are numerous contractors and home remodeling companies in the Houston area that can install James Hardie products such as Hardiplank, Alcoa (vinyl siding), or other home improvements such as stone work.  You should get bids from at least three companies before making a decision.
• Check Out Your Hardiplank Contractor - Is the hardiplank siding contractor you are about to select registered with the Better Business Bureau?  What is their record for resolving complaints?  How long have they been in business?  Will they provide references by name?
• Check Insurance - You are about to entrust a major investment (your home) to someone and you are expecting to increase the value of your investment.  Make sure your hardiplank contractor carries adequate insurance coverage.  Ask to see a copy of their certificate of insurance.
